Nelson MS Society

We are a non-profit charitable organisation with approximately 150 members in the Nelson and Tasman region, who suffer from diseases of the central nervous system or who are family or carers. These diseases include Multiple Sclerosis and Huntington’s as well as other allied neurological conditions that do not have their own support.

There is currently no other group in the Nelson/Tasman area that covers the neurological conditions that we cover. Without our society and the services, we provide, many of our members would be left without support. Our members are facing debilitating conditions which affect their and their family’s everyday lives. Our members participation in our community is at times limited often leaving them at risk of isolation and loneliness.

Our over-arching Health and Wellbeing programme has been developed to enable our Community Advisor to deliver a preventative, pragmatic and collaborative service to our members including:

- Professional Support through home visits, phone calls and emails.

- Support Groups

- Wellbeing Classes

- Fitness Classes

- Education and Advocacy

- Connections

- Health

As a not for profit organisation we rely on fundraising, grants and donations to maintain these services as we receive very little in government funding. Every dollar makes a difference and is very much appreciated by our members who benefit from our service.
