Bay of Plenty
Neuroplay Studio’s Charitable Trust was created from lived experience, as a mum navigating the realities of raising children with additional needs. Like many families, I found it incredibly difficult to access spaces where my children could feel safe, comfortable, and free to be themselves without the challenges of overstimulation, judgement, or environments that simply weren’t designed with them in mind.
Over time, it became clear that there is a real lack of inclusive, sensory-friendly spaces here in Tauranga and across the Bay of Plenty. Many existing environments are not equipped to support our children. leaving families with limited options to connect, play, and participate.
After visiting a specialised sensory play space in Auckland, I saw firsthand what was possible. It was a place where children were supported, where environments were thoughtfully designed, and where whānau felt welcomed and understood. That experience made me realise how important it is to have spaces like this—and how much our community needs one.
This is more than just a play space. It is about creating a place of belonging—for children, for parents, and for whānau. A space where differences are understood and supported, where children can regulate, explore, and build confidence, and where families can feel connected rather than isolated.
Neuroplay Studios exists because this need is real—and because every child deserves a space where they can truly thrive.
Neuroplay Studio’s is creating a specialised sensory play space in the Bay of Plenty for children with autism and the wider disability community including their whānau. our aim is to provide a safe, inclusive space where children feel calm and supported.
