After working on the production of “Wicked The Musical” for four years, North Shore Music Theatre had to sadly announce the cancellation of their 2022 season due to Covid-19 and the country returning to “red traffic light” status. This meant that audience numbers were limited to 100 people only, which financially was not viable. We had a cast and crew who had been rehearsing for a year, had already had a season postponed two weeks before a four-month lockdown, and then the day before packing into the theatre we had to break the news to everyone that the production was cancelled.
With the high possibility of a sell-out season, we were sure that we would be finally able to realise our dream to continue producing musical theatre of a professional calibre in the future.
NSMT is now financially in a situation with closure a real possibility. Small clubroom shows and hireage may keep us open and pay running costs but will not be enough for us to remain a society that could provide the outstanding productions that we have been known to stage.
Please help us to continue sustaining the nurturing environment that we provide to both our youth theatre section of the club and our club members, so we can continue to produce quality small and large productions for the North Shore and our wider audiences.
