  • NZAAHD's Rangatahi Health and Development Project

      15 February 2010

NZAAHD is very excited to announce that with the help of the Todd Foundation and JR McKenzie we are establishing our Rangatahi Maori Health and Development Project. Whereas NZAAHD's core work has always been to connect, inform and offer voice to people working with young people, this project will focus a stream of that work to meet the needs of individuals and organisations working specifically with rangatahi Maori and establish a strategy for best supporting them. • Good News - NZAAHD funding update

      10 November 2009

Thanks to the hard work of Sarah Helm and the Exec team, Council's political lobbying and the huge support of our membership and Minister Turia, NZAAHD has been successful in our bid to have our Ministry of Health funding extended through to Junes 2010! We thank you all for your hard work and support. It looks like we have until June to prove our value, something I feel confident we can do based on the incredibly positive results of our recent membership survey and the new life this breathes into our work. We will be coordinating some thank you letters from our membership to Ministers Ryall and Turia for renewing our funding, so if any of you would like to pen something send it through to admin@nzaahd.org.nz and we'll forward them on with our formal thank you. Thanks again for all your support, we look forward to the year ahead! • Young people ask parents: spend more time with us

      7 April 2009

Contrary to the widespread myth that teenagers hate their parents - young people want more time with their caregivers. The country's biggest survey of young people Youth 2007 surveyed 10,000 secondary school students. About 45% of those interviewed reported that they didn't get enough time with their parents. http://www.youthweek.co.nz/index. Read more of this article on the Youth Week website
