It is a shocking fact that women know little about their own anatomy; many unable to identify the vagina on an anatomical diagram, many could not identify the cervix.

Awareness of all 5 gynaecological cancers is low, some woman cannot even name a single women's gynaecological cancer. This highlights the need for better education and awareness in our communities. Women need to be better informed about what is normal when it comes to their gynaecological health.

If women recognise symptoms that are not normal for them there is a higher chance they will seek help. This knowledge will equip young women for the future, and work to remove the stigma associated with gynaecological cancer.

  • Gynaecological Cancer Awareness - TURN IT TEAL

      23 April 2018
    Main image

The New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation (NZGCF) is a not-for-profit organisation and is reliant on grants and donations from the New Zealand public including:

    Community events held nationwide

    NZGCF fundraising initiatives

    Trusts and Foundations

    Corporate Partners

    NZGCF Mission

Our mission is to educate women and the wider community about the signs and symptoms of gynaecological cancers as early detection can help save lives. NZGCF aims to support women who are affected by gynaecological cancers in all stages of their journey.

NZGCF is the only national organisation which provides support, advocacy and awareness for women with gynaecological cancers. Our goal is to continue this great work and build our programmes further so we can support those experiencing this illness as well as their loved ones –through online resources, support groups and a living well programme.

Our symbol is the ‘teal ribbon’

In New Zealand, three women are diagnosed and one woman dies every day from a gynaecological cancer. This equates to 1,000 NZ women being diagnosed with a gynaecological cancer each year and more than one woman dying every day.

We are looking for your help by means of a donation to support our Health Promotion Educator attending Women's Lifestyle Expo's throughout New Zealand to increase awareness of the signs and symptoms of all gynaecological cancers to help save the lives of New Zealand Women. Help us to help make a difference!

  • Update for 10/03/2014

      10 March 2014

We are delighted to be a Golden Charity Partner in this yearfs Auckland Marathon. Our goal is to raise $25,000 through this partnership and to invest these funds in our National Education Programme ? the first of its kind in New Zealand and a major step towards reducing the number of women dying from gynaecological cancer in New Zealand. Are you ready to sign up and run with us? We have 15 Golden Charity Entries ? enough for 2 full, 12 half, and 1 quarter marathon runners. With such a limited supply of Golden Entries, we will ask each of our runners to pledge a minimum fundraising target of $2,000 (full), $1,500 (half), and $750 (quarter). Remember that fundraising can be lots of fun and we are here to help you with ideas and support to reach your target. As one of our Golden Entry runners, you wonft be doing it alone. We will support you along the way with fundraising tips and training guidelines, regular communication, and a special pre-marathon runnerfs event to help keep you motivated and to introduce you to your fellow NZGCF runners. Each NZGCF runner will also receive a free sunvisor or running t-shirt, food and drink at the end of your run, and a unique runners medal to acknowledge all your hard work. Apply for your Golden Charity Entry today at: http://microsites.realbuzz.com/microsites/gynaecological-cancer-foundation/auckland.html and help us etell every womanf about the signs and symptoms of gynaecological cancers. If youfve already secured a spot but would like to be part of our NZGCF team, we would love to hear from you - please e-mail Toni at toni@nzgcf.org.nz. If you can't make it to Auckland but would like to support our fundraising efforts through participation in a local sporting event, please set up your own fundraising page through 'givealittle' and select NZ Gynaecological Cancer Foundation as the donation recipient. Letfs Get Going for Gynae!
