The Timber Museum of New Zealand is located in Putaruru. It showcases the work of our amazing timber pioneers who built New Zealand's initial infrastructure. The museum relies on sponsorship and donations to do its work. Any monetary assistance, large or small, will be acknowledged and will enable us to maintain and build upon our current assets.
The Timber Museum was established in the South Waikato District near Putaruru in 1972 to celebrate, record, and preserve the history of the timber industry particularly throughout but not limited to the central north island..
The Museum is run by a Trust and supported by the District Council and the Timber Industry.
The Trust is working on the expansion and the upgrading of their valuable resources that includes writing the stories and recording the history of the past.
