ONEONESIX Trust

ONEONESIX is Whangārei's community performing arts centre. We programme contemporary NZ work that will challenge and provoke, ask questions, and start conversations. We encourage and mentor emerging artists creating pathways for them into a professional performing arts context. We support artists to create work about, by, with and for our community. We provide a framework for new work to be developed by offering mentoring, financial, technical and marketing support. We reduce the risk for people to try new things and tell new stories. We encourages the ‘positive friction’ of Whangārei, actively shaping our space and programme to ensure its accessibility to people of different backgrounds, ages, identities, ethnicities and abilities. We are responsive and accountable to our community.
