Established in 2010, Para Kore is a Māori, not-for-profit organisation with the aim of whanaungatanga (good relationship) to Papatūānuku.
Nationwide
“Riro taonga mai, hoki taonga atu.”
“We receive valuable resources from Papatūānuku, we return valuable resources to her.”
Para Kore Marae Incorporated is a not-for- profit, Māori organisation established to deliver waste minimisation education and training to marae and communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our organisation seeks to create behaviour change that diverts waste from landfills, reduces water and air pollution and educates the public to reduce litter.
Para Kore works regionally throughout Aotearoa delivering the innovative Para Kore education programme to marae and organisations within the frameworks of kaupapa and tikanga Māori.
Para Kore embraces the tikanga of caring for Ranginui and Papatūānuku. We understand that dumping waste in landfills, burning rubbish on our marae and littering is a waste of valuable resources, pollutes our environment and is harmful to us all.
Our work contributes to building Māori power, building a circular economy, increasing biodiversity, supporting climate justice and action, and regenerating ecosystems. The Para Kore whānau are passionate about and committed to collaboration, and collective action that honours mana Māori motuhake and rebalances our connections with Ranginui, Papatūānuku and their children.
