Since 2009, Plant to Plate Aotearoa has been helping tamariki build the practical skills and confidence they need for food independence — from growing vegetables to preparing and cooking fresh, seasonal food.

Our hands-on programme has reached more than 15,000 primary school-aged children, along with their teachers, whānau and wider communities.

We work alongside schools to connect tamariki with the full journey of kai — from seed and soil, through to the table. Tamariki grow and harvest produce, prepare and cook a meal, set the table and sit down together to enjoy what they have made.

Along the way, they develop practical life skills while learning about sustainability, food security, teamwork and the value of growing and preparing food themselves. We believe these skills help build more food-resilient and sustainable communities for the future.

Our programme remains highly valued by schools, but like many charities, we are facing a more challenging funding environment. Funders are having to spread their resources further, while the costs of delivering our programme continue. This has created a funding gap and we need your help to keep the programme running.

Your donation will help cover the everyday costs of delivering our sessions — including seeds, gardening supplies, fresh ingredients, cooking equipment, vehicle costs and programme delivery.
