Plant to Plate Aotearoa is educating the next generation in the life long skills of vegetable gardening and cooking fresh healthy produce!
UPDATE: During the Covid-19 lockdown our team is still working hard to provide online lessons, tips, tricks and advice for whanau and their tamariki. We have sent out hundred of free seed packets to families to plant and grow together - we would love your support to keep NZ planting!
Plant to Plate Aotearoa has been delivering our excellent, fun programme to our tamariki since 2009. Over the past 10 years our programme has reached more than 8,000 primary school aged children , as well as their teachers, family and the extended community.
Plant to Plate Aotearoa spends time working in primary schools encouraging children to learn the values of sustainability, thrift and independence to grow great healthy self sustaining communities. The team does this in a practical and relaxed manner, working alongside students and their teachers to firstly create and plant school gardens and fruit trees, and then use the fresh seasonal produce to prepare a delicious, nutritious meal which everybody enjoys together at a big long table. Knives and forks are a must, as are napkins, good table manners and lots of smiles! (Tables are frequently decorated with flowers picked from the garden also)
Our programme is so popular that every year we are fully booked for the following year before the end of term 3. As a not for profit organisation we rely on donations and grants to keep delivering this much loved and needed programme to the community. Help us make a difference to the young people we meet daily and the environment we live in.
