A story from Bernice, PCS Counsellor:
10 November 2017One of our PCS counsellors received a call recently from a client who had used our services two years ago. The client asked if it were possible to speak with ‘Beatrice,’ who had helped her in the past.
The person on duty figured out that ‘Beatrice’ was actually Bernice, one of our South Island counsellors. She took the client’s number and passed it on to Bernice who was then able to contact the client and re-establish their connection.
It was wonderful for Bernice to once more offer guidance and support. Two years ago when the client had first contacted PCS, she had been pregnant with twins and suffered the loss of both of them during her pregnancy. This left her devastated. She has now become pregnant again, and is understandably anxious about the possibility of miscarrying again.
Through their counselling conversations, Bernice has been able to help this client to understand her thoughts and feelings and has offered a listening ear and encouraging words. It was lovely to know that this client had found our services so helpful that, when she was in need again, she did not hesitate to make contact with PCS.
