We exist to protect Hector's and Maui dolphins of New Zealand - the smallest and rarest marine mammal. Numbering just 55, Mauis face immine

Canterbury

1. Protect and preserve endangered dolphins of the species Cephalorhynchus hectori and any subspecies;

2. Provide community education and training relating to the biology and conservation of Cephalorhynchus hectori and any of its subspecies;

3. Establish and maintain a public fund to be called The Hectors Protectors Trust for the specific purpose of supporting the objects of Hectors Protectors.

Raised awareness within the community about the importance of protecting the Hectors and Mauis dolphins, through advertising, merchandise and public events. We have maintained a strong public profile and presence to ensure that the issue of Hectors/Mauis endangerment is prominent within the New Zealand community.
