Q-Youth

Q-Youth

Making Nelson a safer place for all gender and sexuality diversities.

Nelson / Tasman

Q Youth was established in Nelson in 2009 by youth for youth. It has gone on to become a safe space for many young people of gender and sexuality diversity.

We run a drop in centre, offer a young adults group, support the local LGBTQIA+ community and run our own community training.

As a we are a small not for profit organisation your generous donations will go to our projects such as funding trained youth workers for our drop in centre, working with Kai Rescue to provide food for our service users and the families, offer LGBTQIA+ training to local businesses and organisations, provide gender affirming items such as binders to our service users, and offer a safe and inclusive space for all gender and sexuality diverse youth.

More about us

Re-Establishment  19 March 2026

Hello Everyone,

This message is to inform you that this giving page will be closed from the 31st of March. Q Youth Inc. has made the decision to re-establish as Q-Youth Charitable Trust. As we will be a new legal entity we will be creating a new givealittle page to reflect that and ensure that donations are properly counted. If you have elected to include Q Youth in your will as a donation please ensure that you update this to Q-Youth Charitable Trust.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
