The Raglan Museum holds many precious items that need to be preserved for future generations and made available for public viewing. The museum is proud to hold the taiaha of Te Awaitaia, prominent Ngati Maahanga chief and Treaty of Waitangi signatory. Other important items include: Maori items found around the Raglan Whaingaroa harbour; exhibits relating to missionary James Wallis.
About 500 people visit the museum each month. There are many visits by school and other groups.
The Raglan Museum Society set up the first museum in the Town Hall in 1970. It moved to the old Wainui Rd fire station in 1984. That new building was completed in 2011 reopening in November.
