To invite your partnership in ensuring the sustainability, resilience and connectedness of the Ashhurst and Pohangina Communities.

RECAP was formed in the 2010 with the primary purpose of promoting the sustainability, diversity and resilience of the Greater Ashhurst and Pohangina Region. This is particularly poignant during this current pandemic period.
We are volunteer-led and focus on education and projects that build a stronger sense of community, care for the living environment and the local ecology and develop new skills and connections that can help make this region sustainable, resilient, and self-reliant.
We have a strong guiding emphasis on permaculture education through offering presentations and workshops, permaculture courses and a range of practical projects that have education and consciousness-raising aims built into the project design.
We are currently focusing on projects linked to food, with the understanding that there may be shortages in the future. This includes the safe sharing of excess produce, the production of food for the community in our community garden and orchard, seed sharing and seedling sharing to ensure people have a deeper understanding of how to grow their own and feed their families.
RECAP Community Kai is a service operated by RECAP (The Society for the Resilience and Engagement of the Communities of Ashhurst and Pohangina) where we provide residents with a free, no questions asked bag of kai once a week.
