Help us to save Chyangba Village in the southern Everest region badly damaged in the recent earthquakes. Donations go directly to village.
Wellington
The families in this village have lost nearly everything including their water and electricity supply, school classrooms and library, plus many of their homes have been damaged. They however remain strong in spirit but need our help to re-build their village and lives.
Chyangba Village lies at a height of 3,500m, in the north of Nepal and is approximately 480km by road and track from Kathmandu. The village does not lie on the trekker's trail and all development work is carried out by the people in the village. Added to the challenging task of helping Chyangba is that there is no road to the village and everything is at least 2 days walk away.
All of your donations will go directly towards helping these Sherpas to save their village.
For the past 3 years, the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson, in Wellington, has had a special connection with this village through Pem Sherpa, who grew up in the village and now puts his energies into helping the families to have healthy living conditions and for the children to be educated. Pem has been recognised internationally for his humanitarian efforts and we have committed help to rebuild Chyangba.
The Rotary Club of Port Nicholson is a charitable organisation and is part of a world-wide organisation. The main objective of Rotary is the health and well being of all in the communities throughout the world.
