Silver Fern MotorSport Charitable Trust was established in July 2010 to inspire youth with a passion for cars and motorsport with an opportunity to learn new skills and motivate youth to pursue long term pathways into employment or career based training. Over time the Trust has developed new programmes to support young people in key life-skills areas including gaining a drivers license, gaining ID, CV, job seeking support and accessing long term training pathways.
Accessing all our programmes is free, and we support youth in the Auckland and Waikato regions.
OUR PROGRAMMES:
AUTOMOTIVE YOUTH TRAINING PROGRAMME
10-day intensive hands-on training and mentorship programme
Opportunity to experience a range of hands on activities related to automotive and motorsport, and learn new skills transferable to long term career pathways
Small groups (4 maximum per intake)
Facilitated in a real automotive workshop environment by a Qualified Mechanic Tutor

DRIVERS LICENSE PROGRAMME – LEARNER’S LICENSE
5 day training programme learning the rode code
Facilitated in groups (Maximum 10 per intake)
Includes sitting the Learner’s License Test within the 5-day period

GETTING STARTED PROGRAMME
One to one support is provided to help young people aged 16-21 years secure a job or access long term training.
Other support provided includes gaining identification (e.g photo ID, birth certificate), getting a CV, goal planning, gaining a driver’s license, setting up an email account, and enrolling in training or job seeking.
Silver Fern MotorSport Charitable Trust is a youth services provider, established in 2010 to response to supporting disadvantaged youth to access employment and training pathways, focusing on the automotive and motorsport sector.
Over time, the Trust has extended its connectivity to wider industry areas to ensure it meets wider needs and interests of young people, although its primary focus remains within the automotive area.
The Trust’s mission is encapsulated in the statement: “to Inspire and Empower Youth to make positive changes in their lives through educational programmes and activities in automotive and motorsport”.
The Trust offers three free core programmes:
1. “Youth Automotive Programme (Foundation Programme established 2010)
2. “Driver License Programme (Learner License)
3. “Getting Started Programme (supporting young people into employment and training pathways).
The Trust has training facilities located in West Auckland, however welcomes referrals from the wider Auckland region.
