In 1928, with encouragement from Sir Henry Wigram, New Zealand purchased three Gloster Grebe aircraft for the purposes of training pilots and expanding aviation throughout the country. By 1938, not one of these aircraft had survived.
A group here in NZ has taken up the challenge to bring back NZ501, the first Gloster Grebe to arrive in NZ. We have access to some drawings and an original engine. We have determined that it is not a case of if but when NZ501 will be built, and we want you to be part of this project.

We are working towards building a replica of the first aircraft purchased by the NZ Government for the NZ Permanent Air Force in 1928.
