St James Trails Trust

Supporting the St James Trails Trust to create and share the stunning big country experience that is the St James Cycle Trail - we need you!

Hanmer Springs, Canterbury

The St James Cycle Trail was the first of the family of 23 Great Rides, the St James opening in 2010. Since 1 July 2024, the St James Trails Trust has taken over the management and governance of the trail, previously under DOC

Our aim is to return the experience of riding this remote trail to be the exceptional experience that was originally envisioned, to do that we need support.

Nga Haerenga Great Rides and their funding agency MBIE are able to provide some funding but on a basis of a dollar for a dollar - we need that first dollar!

Where will your dollar go?

Some to maintaining the trail which had been very unfunded for a decade or more

Some to developing the trail, moving the sections currently on the Edwards and Maling 4WD tracks to dedicated single track

Some to telling the story of the St James

More about us
