Junior Surf
Nippers (under 14 year olds) are the nursery for Surf Life Saving’s future lifesavers.
The Nippers Programme aims to create a fun, enjoyable, positive and risk-free atmosphere, while developing the children’s confidence in the surf and further improve and develop their overall surf lifesaving skills. This is achieved through beach education and weekly sessions over summer of board training, to develop techniques which directly transfer. Pool sessions at Moana Swimming pool, focus on swimming form and endurance. Beach training days, where the nippers are taught to read the beach and ocean, enhancing water safety and core lifeguarding skills.
St Kilda Surf Life Saving is a Dunedin based Surf Life Saving Club, with the mission to make those that swim at our beach safe, provide education and training, and help produce future lifeguards. We also run a youth education programme called Nippers.
