  • Louise intensive care

      14 July 2026

Last Tuesday, 6-month-old Louise came into our with two broken legs. Since then, she's been receiving intensive care at the vet clinic, with both good days and bad days.

Today, Louise became very flat, and despite being on antibiotics, her white cell count was very high. After discussing her condition with veterinarian Dries Meyer, the decision was made to perform an exploratory laparotomy.

The surgery revealed an intestinal blockage caused by a piece of bark that she had likely eaten while trying to survive before being rescued. Thankfully, the blockage was removed, and Louise is now recovering.

Louise still has a long road ahead, and her emergency veterinary care has come at a significant cost. If you're able to help, please consider donating via our Givealittle page Thank you for your support.

This is Mongoose, one of the kittens in our care at the moment. She is roughly 6 months old and was found in Orari. Unfortunately, she needs a complicated dental procedure involving a full mouth of extractions. This kind of procedure is costly, therefore we are reaching out to you guys for help. Donations can be done via our give a little https://givealittle.co.nz/org/streetcats or directly into our bank account - Street Cats South Canterbury 06-0889-0332084-00. Mongoose would appreciate any donations that come her way 😻

Wee Cornelius came in today, and he needs to have his eye removed on Monday. This is the 3rd eye removal surgery we have had to get done in the past 4 weeks. Any donation towards this would be very much appreciated

9 month old Dash has been surrendered to us after he broke his leg. Owner is no longer able to take care of him. He will be having his leg amputated today. These operations do cost us a lot to do, but this beautiful boy deserves a chance. If you can donate towards this operation, it would be extremely appreciated as we are preparing for the next kitten season which is due to start next month. We thank everyone for their donations.
