Help us build a beautiful facility where people can discover their full potential for wisdom, love and freedom, to benefit all beings.
Waikato
Sudarshanaloka is a Buddhist Retreat Centre in the Coromandel Peninsula. Through a range of retreats we introduce people to the timeless teachings of the Buddha and support deepening practice towards joy, energy, wisdom, compassion and freedom, for the benefit of all beings.
Since 1993 we have been developing the Centre to support this work, including a beautiful seven-mitre stupa and purpose-built cabins for personal retreat. An ambitious 50-person retreat facility is partly build and we'd love your help in completing this project, as well as maintaining and upgrading our existing facilities.
The name 'Sudarshanaloka' means Land of Beautiful Vision". This vision is not just about the beautiful view of the hills, water and native bush at Sudarshanaloka. It's also about sangha (the spiritual community). It's the beauty of the community of like-minded people working together and practicing the teachings of the Buddha, the beauty of what arises between them as they do so, and the beauty of the awakening they are aspiring to manifest.
We are part of the International Triratna Buddhist Community, which includes the Wellington, Auckland, and Thames Buddhist Centres.
