For the last 15 months the committee have been exploring options to increase services provided at Taupo Hospital which will reduce the need to travel to Rotorua and therefore reduce costs to patients financially and time wise.
At the Society’s AGM held 18th September 2018, the members unanimously agreed to fundraise $350,000 to purchase an Echocardiogram (ultrasound machine for the heart) to be permanently kept and utilised at Taupo Hospital only. At present patients from the Taupo region travel out of town mainly to Rotorua Hospital for an Echo Heart Scan, and there is a waiting list due to the increase in the number of patients needing one.
$167,000 has been raised so far towards the Echocardiogram.
Our Society has 356 members which includes 12 committee members who are culturally & age diversified.
Please consider our Society as a worthwhile cause in light of community health and well-being for the Taupo region. Thank you.
