Local Emergency Prevention Volunteering

The Tawa Community Patrol was established in 2008 and acts as the 'eyes and ears' of the New Zealand Police. Our aim is to provide a highly visible presence to prevent and report crime and promote safer communities. We have grown to 40 volunteer members who are all locals of diverse backgrounds, ages and skills.

We operate both day and night patrols - currently providing the community with over 1000 patrol hours each year. Our uniformed patrollers use our marked vehicle to patrol, or maintain a visible presence on foot, interacting with the public during weekdays and on Friday and Saturday evenings. Our patrol territory includes Tawa, Linden, Grenada North, and Kenepuru areas - and sometimes beyond! We also put our patrol car on the road during civil emergency events such as extreme weather and other natural disasters, primarily to check on the safety and well being of local residents and businesses.

The Patrol maintains strong working partnerships with the Kapiti-Mana Police District, Wellington City Council, Tawa Community Board, and the local community and is affiliated to our national organisation - Community Patrols of New Zealand (CPNZ).

Your donation through Givealittle will come directly to us and will go towards general operating expenses. We thank you for your kind support.
