Te Roopu Oranga O Highbury Charitable Trust

Our goal is to improve the health and well-being of the Highbury community and surrounding suburbs.

Highbury, Palmerston North

Kia ora,

We are a free charitable non-for-profit service and hub based in Highbury Palmerston North. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the Highbury community and surrounding suburbs, by providing a free service to whānau. This includes free food, clothing, kitchenware, linen, toys, homeware and more! We help anyone and everyone, with no criteria or questions asked. Te Whare Koha is a safe space for whānau to come to with no judgement. We see at least 50 whānau per day, and with the rise in cost of living, we will continue to see more and more whānau. With your koha and contribution to this much needed service, we can continue to keep our free store operating to serve our whānau in need.

We receive donations from the community, everything donated to us is given out to the community free with no questions asked. We rescue school lunches from a local school, receive kai from Just Zilch and have a free maara kai that whānau can help themselves to.

Our organization relies heavily on volunteers who run our free services 5 days per week Monday-Friday 9am-12pm. We are located at 42 Pembroke Street Palmerston North.

Te Whare Koha is thriving  29 July 2024

Te Whare Koha is a much-needed service in the heart of Highbury! With the rise in cost of living, we have seen such an increase in the amount of people we help daily. We offer free food, clothing, shoes, linen, kitchenware and social services in a safe space with no judgement or criteria. Please know that your support is helping people who are struggling over winter to pay that extra power bill, provide kai for their whānau or pay an unexpected bill. With no clothing bins left in the city, we rescue clothing, homewares, shoes and more from going to landfill. By you contributing to our cause, we are able to keep our vital service operating so that no whānau has to go without.
