We piloted a "Feed the tamariki" program almost a decade ago in order to help nourish the minds and bodies of our tamariki. Donate to help<3
Manawatu / Whanganui
Our programme "Feed the tamariki" has been running for almost a decade but due to rising costs and lower governmental funding, it is becoming harder and harder to raise the necessary funds to continue this. Please help us feed our tamariki at least one good meal a day for their little minds to further develop and grow.
About the Kohanga Reo Movement.
Kohanga reo movement originated in the Maori language renaissance of the 1970s and 1980s which is a whanau-based environment within which mokopuna are empowered to ‘catch’ the language and culture in their earliest formative years aiming to build much of the future foundation for the teaching of te reo (the language) in kura (school) and wananga (workshops) and its usage in whanau and everyday life. The funding it receives is minimal and we here at Te Reo Tupua o Awapuni, are aiming to help as many of these mokopuna through life even up to high school age. So we are looking to start programs such as feeding the tamaiti, providing before and after school programs: to help working or studying parents as it can be a daunting prospect to parents and caregivers getting back into work or study. So we would like to initiate that process with the help of people like you. I implore you to help awhi (support) these tamariki (children) in this venture.
