The Bridge South Brighton Trust

In South New Brighton we use to have the best pie shop in Christchurch, arguably the best fish and chips, the friendliest Chemist and everything else to shop local. It was a great hang out BUT Thanks to a few earthquakes and paranoid engineers we lost the lot one afternoon in 2012.

Since then it's been a empty section and still is.

HOWEVER - across the road is an abandoned Baptist church facility.

SO The Bridge South Brighton Trust was formed by a few mates to convert the ‘as-is where-is’ church into a community centre run by the community. A place for us to meet, to share stories and to join in activities together and we're almost there !

- We got the CCC to buy the building for us

- We won a facebook campaign to have a Smartlift foundation re-level

- Lotteries Community Fund helped us remove the asbestos roof and get consents

- RATA Foundation has chipped in to help strengthen The Bridge Hub

- And now we need you and your friends to chip in and help us get open.

And now we are operational. A community center by the community for the community. Dune cafe is open with the best coffee EVER! Our community hall for events and entertainment or Yoga and Pilates, or Art and Theatre shows, pie and pint evenings, and much, much more! A Wellness Centre for therapies and consultations, massage, workshops and meetings. Our gallery exhibition space for showcasing local creative talent.
