The Painga Project

Creating and delivering enabling opportunities to low decile primary and intermediate students and their communities in South Auckland.

Auckland

The Painga Project is dedicated to enabling opportunities for children and their communities in low decile primary and intermediate schools in South Auckland.

We work with low decile schools to identify their needs and their dreams so that we can begin to balance the inequities that many children experience every day when they walk through their school gates. We then partner with programmes and projects that will support these needs and dreams. Some programmes are free while others come at a cost that the Painga Project funds. And when we can't find a programme or project we develop our own.

For many low decile primary and intermediate aged students there are very few enabling opportunities for them to build their confidence and direction so that they can ‘see what they can be’. Without a glimpse into what their future can be there is a risk that some of these students disengage with education and the potential that they themselves hold.
