We offer a free service to our families struggling with mental health before, during and after child birth.
Wellington
The Ruth Project Wairarapa supports whanau by using a holistic approach for care and support, creating a sustainable village, connection to other organisations and health professionals, one on one mentoring, support groups and education.
Our dreams are big. Our service is free. We need community support to take the pressure off us so we can take the pressure of our mums and dads. Your generous giving will help support our staff, operations and also create the opportunity for us to sponsor clients to get counselling and other professional care.
Too many mums and dads are struggling with their mental health and wellness at a time that should be the most relaxing, peaceful, joyful and memorable time of their families lives. We want to be apart of the solution to the problem, we want to prevent our families getting to the bottom of the cliff before they are seen and cared for. Our motto - where our people go, we will go also. Help us to help our community, create villages and empower our parents.
The Ruth Project Wairarapa Charitable Trust is the only provider of support services to women suffering from perinatal depression, and their partners, their children regardless of age, and whānau, between clinical appointments in the Wairarapa district. The service works within the Te Whare Tapa Whā model of health, which provides for holistic support for physical, mental, whānau, and emotional health.
Closure of The Ruth Project Wairarapa 19 October 2025
It is with no small amount of sadness that I am writing to formally confirm the dissolution of the Ruth Project Wairarapa.
Over the past 7 years, the founders, leaders and volunteers of this service have endeavored to provide a safe and supportive relationship to those mums and dads that have struggled with practical and emotional challenges associated with having young children.
It has been our honour and privilege to serve the community of the Wairarapa, but after much consideration and review of practicalities of running a small locality based charitable organisation, we can confirm we have officially ceased activity.
To all those that supported our mahi, our referrers, colleagues and valuable advocates, to all those that provided us with the ability to make this effort with donations of money, time or equipment, we would like to say a heartfelt thank you.
