The Awhina Trust was established in 2023 in memory of Taya Awhina Kauri who passed away suddenly in 2019 of an undiagnosed heart condition.
Taya was a generous, caring and thoughtful 9 year old whose presence made the world a better place. To honour her life and legacy The Awhina Trust has been set up with two main focus points - to provide support to those in hardship through a holiday hamper program and to create a caring and supportive community for fathers processing the grief of losing a child.
As a small, family run organisation, all funds received will be poured directly into the initiatives with the only administrative costs being those associated with the payment platform to receive these donations.
