The Papermill is a charitable organisation providing a safe and nurturing environment for artists with disabilities.
Northland
The Papermill trains intellectually challenged and disabled persons in the art of papermaking and manufacturing a wide range of paper products including wedding invitations, stationery sets and various pieces of art. Our Papermakers also train visitors in the art of papermaking. The Papermill has been operating for over 25 years as a Charitable Trust / Not-for-profit Organisation during which our Papermakers have created many pieces of art and quality products made from recycled paper.
Each papermaker has a personal goal programme developed by the creative manager that is based on their abilities and personal preferences for particular aspects of papermaking.
The Papermakers showcase their artwork in the handmade paper and cards available for sale in our shop at 38 Kamo Road Whangarei and also online at www.papermill.co.nz. The Papermill also holds an annual exhibition where the public can view the wonderful works of art our Papermakers create from sustainable recycled paper and various plant fibres.
The Papermill won the Best Not for Profit Organisation Award and the Sustainable Business Award at the 2014 Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards.
