    🚨 TUG UPDATE 🚨

    What's happening on the tug?

Our team turns up each and every Thursday to look after our old girl and keep her in tip top condition. Unfortunately, when maintaining a 116 year old ship, you get to the point where it needs major maintance, and we are at this point.

Our boiler tubes need to be replaced before we can sail again.

This means we will not be sailing in 2023/2024 😥

The last time our 240 tubes were replaced was in the early 1980's, of course prices have gone up a little since then!

The replacement of the tubes, along with installing an electric pre-heater, which will not only reduce coal use and carbon emissions, it will also lower the work load on our sailing team and help extend the life of the boiler itself, will cost around $300,000. This will form part of a larger $1,500,000 planned refit which will ensure our one of a kind piece of global marine history is operational for many more years to come.

    How can you help?

We are always keen for new members who can help our team on Thursday painting, varnishing and replacing decking.

We are also looking for sponsorship, both big and small, every bit counts!

Thanks in advance for your support

    🚨NEWS FLASH! 🚨

We have regained our passenger licence!!

Over the last few years, legislation to operate a passenger vessel has changed, so it has meant an overhaul of our safe ship management systems. This is no small job on a ‘normal ship’ let alone a 112 steam ship! Thanks to our team of dedicated volunteers, this has now all been signed off by Maritime NZ.

    So where to from here?

we will return to dry dock this month for a clean down of the hull and fresh coat of paint, so we can hit the ground running for the 2019-2020 year. (Sailing season for Oct-April)

We would like to thank all our supporters for their help over the years, especially to our volunteers who had put in thousands of hours of work in so we would see the old girl back on the water again. This honestly would not of happened without you.

Keep an eye on our page for further updates, fundraisers, ways you can help and special giveaways!

We look forward to having you on all board THIS year!

    FULL STEAM AHEAD!

A successful day yesterday (27th) as we headed into dry dock. Now the real work begins to get this beauty ready to go again. Love you to partner with us and help us raise the $30k we need to fund all the work needed!

  • Help us reach $30k!

We are headed for dry dock which is a step closer to us sailing again this summer. We have estimated dry docking to come in at around $30k+ for cleaning, painting, repairing and inspecting certain parts ie the propellors this time round.

Every cent helps us get closer to this goal!
