Help Tūhura Tech grow the next generation of technologists by funding tech education that is free to young people in the Wellington region.
Wellington
Tūhura Tech was established as a charitable trust mid-2022. Our purpose is to grow the next generations of technologists by providing free technology education to young people in the Wellington region - Wellington City, Hutt Valley and Porirua...& expanding!
In 2023, we began piloting our learning materials as proof of concept at a few schools. It was a great success. Schools & students provided overwhelmingly positive feedback. The impact our programme had on skills development was apparent when we took 7 teams to the National Cybersecurity Competition in July. Our teams placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th - tangible evidence that our programmes are effective. Our students were able to win in a highly competitive situation with only 7 weeks of learning - once a week, for 2 hours each session.
The success of our methods and resources was also reflected in the awards won by our two teams of Lower Hutt intermediate and secondary school students who had designed & built an electric bike & an electric cart - both winning awards at the regional EVolocity competition in October 2023.
We'd love to see every child have the opportunity to learn about & engage with technology, regardless of their background or financial situation, & to be part of the future of tech in NZ. Please help us do this.
Tūhura Tech is run by volunteers. But, we have a few paid facilitators. Donations will help pay facilitators to run sessions & for much needed equipment.
Tūhura Tech is growing the next generations of technologists by providing free technology education to children & youth at schools, community centres and libraries in the Wellington region.
