Turtle Rescue and Re-homing Christchurch
Canterbury
Turtle Rescue is based in Christchurch, New Zealand, and is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, boarding, and education of pet turtles.
Founded by Donna Moot, Turtle Rescue provides a safe haven for turtles in need. At times, more than 100 turtles may be in Donna's care, with much of the cost of food, housing, equipment, and veterinary treatment being funded personally or through limited donations.
Many turtles arrive at Turtle Rescue suffering from the effects of inadequate housing, poor nutrition, or a lack of understanding about their care requirements. As a result, they may be severely stressed, vitamin deficient, or affected by a range of shell and health conditions.
Turtles are experts at hiding illness and often show few signs of being unwell until their condition has become serious. Recovery can be a long journey, with some rescue turtles requiring months or even years of dedicated rehabilitation before they are healthy enough to be re-homed.
Through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and community support, Turtle Rescue works to give every turtle the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
Turtle Rescue is based in Christchurch, New Zealand and provides rehabilitation, holidays, adoption and education on turtle care.
