VAWA is a collective of animal welfare advocates, led by veterinarians. Supporting us helps us create better lives for animals.
Our vision is A Good Life for All - a world where animals, people and the environment thrive, not just survive. Animals, and all other living and non-living things, are part of an interconnected system. A Good Life for All embraces the concepts of One Health, One Welfare, and te ao Māori and recognises that our ecosystem must thrive in order to support good lives for everything else.
VAWA’s advocacy aims to protect Aotearoa's reputation as leaders in how we care for our animals, within our ecosystem. Our work is focused on improving the welfare of all animals with which we have a myriad of interactions and relationships - from those we have as companions, to entertainment, our native fauna and to those we consider to be pests, and our farmed animals.
The welfare of animals, humans and the environment are inextricably interconnected, and VAWA would like to see more animals, people and our environment in Aotearoa New Zealand having A Good Life.
