The Waikato Animal Outreach Trust is a Charitable Trust set up to help animals at risk and pet owners de-sex their pets in the community.
Waikato
The Waikato Animal Outreach Trust provides services to the community via its Op Shop - discounted desexing, (when we have funds available) food bank, education, advocacy and advice.
The Outreach Op Shop has been operating for 8 years and has helped many animals and their owners over this time.
The Outreach has had some unfortunate incidents happen this year which is affecting our ability to help animals, twice in the space of 4 months we have had shop windows smashed via needless vandalism and by an unsupervised special needs person (who tried twice to get in through a door window).
We have had to take the brunt of this cost whilst also paying other bills including the finishing off of Arlo's leg amp surgery (aka Noah).
First broken window cost us over $900 to replace - the 2nd one will cost us $500 + which we cannot afford to do at present.
The Trust also provides sanctuary to over 27 cats that have health or behaviour problems which may never be able to be rehomed, currently it costs us approx. $300+ per week just to fed them all.
We are now also paying off a $900 dental for one of our Trust cats 'Sooty'.
We pay market rent (gone up again recently) + bodycorp rates whilst keeping our prices reasonable for everyone to afford so we do not have reserves to rely on when these things happen, we need the communities help and support to be able to help anymore animals.
The Waikato Animal Outreach Trust is an incorporated Trust set up in February 2016.
The Trust aims to assist families and their pets in low socio economic areas and at risk animals due to financial hardship or distress being experienced by the animals owner – this is a hand up not a hand out.
The Trust can help in several ways – provide very discounted de-sexing via the vets that support the Trust, assist with food from the Trusts food bank, worming and flea treatment and education on basic care and owners obligations to ensure their animals needs are met and will continue to be met.
The Trust will also provide safe haven for any sick, injured and at risk juvenile animal that is relinquished to the Trust as a result of the Outreach service.
