Waikato Ethnic Family Services Trust is an organisation that helps ethnic families (refugees and immigrants) in the Waikato, settle into New Zealand society. Our services include, but are not limited to advocacy, budgeting, support, translation services and general assistance among others. Our services are offered free of charge and the organisation is wholly run by volunteer staff.
We also offer professional development courses for healthcare / social workers to educate on how to approach matters of cultural and traditional ethnic practices in their interaction with ethnic clients. The demand for our services is increasing and a need for additional funding has risen.
