Kia ora WELLfed Givealittle Supporters! 26 September 2023
Term 3 was another massive term at WELLfed. We had 21 Learners graduate after two terms as part of our cooking programme, with a number also participating in our WELLfed plus activities including first aid, parenting courses, and our new garden workshops.
The amazing donations received via our Givealittle page helped us provide each WELLfed Learner a pack of fresh fruit and vegetables to take home from class each week. These packs are always very well received by our Learners and discussions flow around the best way to eat and use any unfamiliar produce (some weeks this included fruit like tangelos, quince, and pawpaw) as well as how good the rest of the delicious produce was - especially the red potatoes which were beautiful when roasted or baked!
In graduation week, we labelled all of the produce supplied with their te Reo Māori names and practised using the correct words in class as part of our Te Wiki o te Reo Māori celebrations.
With food costs at an all-time high, especially with fruit and vegetables having increased 22% in the past 12 months (RNZ, May 2023) it is extremely positive that our fantastic Givealittle donors can help us provide these packs to nourish our Learner whānau.
Thank you Givealittle donor whānau!
