Help us set up the Wellington Depression Recovery Centre!
Wellington
The mental health system in this country is in crisis. People are struggling to get access to effective treatment. We do not have a continuum of care and key components of the system are missing. We can not wait any longer for the system to respond. We are taking action and we need your support!
Over the past 2 years a team of volunteers - mental health professionals, people with lived experience, and community leaders have been working on a solution that was strongly advocated for in He Ara Oranga (Enquiry into Mental Health Services 2018).
Our solution - the Wellington Depression Recovery Centre - a place where people with debilitating depression and related issues can access compassionate, evidenced-based care that addresses their mental, spiritual, physical and social health and restores their sense of wholeness and belonging.
We have gained the support of clinicians, therapists, mental health providers and advocacy groups and now we are reaching out to the whole of Aotearoa New Zealand, but especially the Wellington community, for your support.
We have made good progress - we have secured a floor in the James Smith’s building ready to be fitted out, we have clinicians excited to work in our programme, we have an evaluation team and we have several initial funders including the Lottery Board, JR McKenzie Trust, Quatro Trust, Tai Shan Trust and some generous individuals. Can you help us make this life-changing, life-saving Centre a reality, ready to open in April 2023?
We are the Depression Recovery Trust; a registered charity building a new mental health centre that will radically enhance the treatment and support available to people with moderate-severe depression and anxiety in Aotearoa New Zealand.
