Wellington
The Wellington Red Hackle Pipe Band are a registered charity who perform across the year both locally in the community and nationally. We have four competing bands across three grades and have a thriving juvenile band.
Year on year our costs for running the band including equipment (instruments and uniform) and travel for competitions such as the National championships and the regional competitions is increasing.
Our juvenile development band is struggling for uniform and this causes challenges whilst competing against larger funded organisations such as private schools.
We have our own community hall to maintain, this is hired out to the community but again these costs are increasing year on year including insurance, general maintenance, alarms etc.
Our other yearly fundraising includes a concert, multiple street parades, ANZAC celebrations/parades, Scottish Ceilidhs/dances and craft fayres.
The Wellington Red Hackle operates four competing Pipe Bands (Grades 3, 4A, 4B, and juvenile). Their purpose is to promote Scottish music/traditions and provide tuition to members of the community who want to learn to play the bagpipes or drums
