Raising money for our Clubhouse Redevelopment Project

Queenstown, Otago

Volunteers from Whakatipu Rowing Club having been working on a redevelopment of the club's facilities since 2017.

Designed by local rower, Emma Schmitz of Assembly Architects, our new clubhouse facility is a legacy project that will sustain rowing in the Whakatipu Basin for generations to come.

The building blends existing boat storage with a separate indoor training area on the ground floor and new function space and balcony on an upper level. The views are some of the best you will see in the Queenstown Lakes.

The club has been well supported in this endeavour by loyal club members, local business and philanthropists eager to see more people benefit from rowing. The project is run by a highly skilled working group of industry professionals which have employed Tovey Construction to carry out the work.

Due to the difficult trust funding environment, the club has a shortfall in funds required and is seeking donations to complete the work. As a registered charity, all donations to Whakatipu Rowing Club are tax deductible. Donations of $1000 or more will ensure permanent recognition of your contribution is displayed in the building.

Rowing helps develop the skills and habits that shape young people into strong and capable adults. It fosters intergenerational friendships and celebrates the special environment we are so privileged to inhabit.

Thank you for supporting this valuable community project.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
