The Wellington Night Shelter (WNS) is a Wellington-based charity providing emergency overnight accommodation for homeless men.
We provide 3 levels of accommodation support: dormitory style accommodation (including shower and laundry facilities), hostel room accommodation, and community support.
We've been operating since 1969.

Kia ora koutou,
Thank you for all your support in 2017 - this has made a huge difference to our guests and helps us to continue to improve our service to men experiencing homelessness in the Wellington Region.
Here are some quick stats from our last financial year:
• A total of 279 individual men utilised the Crisis Accommodation in the last financial year
• A total of 59 men utilised the Transitional Accommodation in the last financial year
We continue to provide a mix of Crisis and Transitional accommodation, with a large number of men going on to be rehoused in social housing, private housing with whānau or friends, or more appropriate emergency housing for our guys with complex needs. Some of our guests stay for very short periods of time, whilst others stay for 3-6 months, so we know we are providing an essential service and place for people, whether it is to 'catch their breath' briefly or to have more time to re-group and heal, before they organise themselves to find more sustainable housing.
Your donations really do make a difference. Over the past 6 months we have re-structured our organisation and have taken on more support staff and we are in the middle of redecorating our hostel kitchen and lounge areas.
We thank all of our supporters for their ongoing interest in the Shelter and their moral support for our guys in the community. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us at the Wellington Night Shelter.
