Dear World Vision, could you please tell me how much of my donation would be going to the people in need? For example, I’d donated to support your Vanuatu Cyclone Pam appeal, so approximately what percentage of my money would actually be going to the people living in Vanuatu who’d suffered or are suffering from the storm’s damages? I know all charities have admin costs etc. and I ask this question to all the charities I donate to. Thank you.

Thank for your question. Pour current admin costs for this financial year are less than 20 cents in every dollar. You can read our annual report here: https://www.worldvision.org.nz/about-us/annual-report.aspx. We’re independently audited by PWC every year to ensure our books are in order.

The case of emergencies can vary somewhat, in most cases more our admin costs are actually less than our standard admin percentage. Every year we work hard to make our admin costs less and less, however, we don’t do this at the expense of hiring qualified staff, as they’re the ones who help ensure your donation has the most impact it can on lives overseas.
