YETI Nepal

  • We did it!

Gunilla, Phillipa and Linda successfully completed the Tough Gal circuit yesterday. While the day was lovely, the circuit conditions, as promised were very, very muddy.

We slipped, slid, skidded, waded, crawled, splashed, clambered up hills, over obstacles, through culverts and tunnels, and finally a waist deep, very cold pond.

But we made it, Together and without injury.

Thank you very, very much to everyone who has supported us through this event by making donations to our cause - the new learning centre at Waling, Nepal.

We truly appreciate your contributions and it motivated us when faced with some of those terrible obstacles.

It's not too late to donate - donations are accepted any time.

Your support does make a difference and we look forward to bringing you updates on progress.

  • The countdown is on ...

      21 May 2025

Two days to go, and the team is getting excited and possibly feeling a little apprehensive.

Thank you to everyone who has given to our cause - it's a motivator for us when the mud is oozing into our shoes or we face plant into it.

You've supported us to support the Waling community.

Thank you so, so much for your generosity to date. We truly appreciate your support

  • One week to go ....

      16 May 2025

The weather is promising to be fine, cool but dry as our team prepares themselves for the 2025 Tough Gal team challenge. We're getting excited and have just learned there might be a rope bridge in the mix somewhere .... not sure what the team balancing skills are like but as a team we'll work together to support each other through this.

And that's where our supporters come in - we're doing this all for a good cause (although we hope to have some fun along the way). All money raised through your donations and sponsorship go towards YETI's new project - the building of a community learning centre in the Waling area of Nepal. It's a marginalised community with a low level of literacy and keeping kids in education is difficult.

With the establishment of a community learning centre students will have a safe space to do homework and continue learning under the guidance of a qualified teacher. And you can play a small part. Just click on the donate button and give a little to our fundraising. It also helps to motivate us on the day!

A huge thank you to all those who have supported already. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

  • We're getting down and dirty in the name of fundraising!

In May three brave and intrepid YETI supporters - Gunilla, Phillipa and Linda will undertake the gruelling 6km obstacle course known as the Tough Gal challenge.

We're doing this all for a fantastic cause - to raise NZ$600 for YETI's latest project in Nepal - a community learning centre. YETI is undertaking the development of the centre with its partners Umbrella Foundation Nepal. The centre will provide a safe space for homework, literacy projects, computer education and mother and baby health and education.

The Tough Gal challenge requires us to put our bodies on the line and crawl through mud, haul ourselves up hillsides and wade through ponds of freezing water. We're doing the hard yards - all we ask is that you provide us with encouragement and a small donation.

We've done the training - Gunilla has cycled around the world. Phillipa runs up and down mountains, and Linda ... well, every team has a weak link ....

So please support Team YETI and help us reach our goal of $600 which will go towards the YETI Learning Centre.

Photo shows Linda and Pip looking clean and tidy in Nepal. They won't look like this when they cross the finish line!

YETI presently supports five students at different levels of study throughout Nepal.

Saiman, Oju, Sangita and Alisha are studying at college while Anjali is about to begin her Year 11 studies.

Subjects range from computers, business, environmental studies and social work.

Our students are advocates for their communities and use their education to benefit their communities upon completion of their studies.

Your assistance, through donations, helps us to help them achieve this education.
