One month on from the lethal wall of water that decimated towns in the Rasuwa region wewe wish to share this edited message with you from our partners in Kathmandu:
Shyam, the Country Director of Umbrella, says:
"Thank you very much for raising funds of more than NZ$3,000. This is a very meaningful contribution, particularly when the affected communities are facing significant challenges.
We visited some of the affected areas and provided essential relief materials as well as in KTM where victims are staying. However, we recognise that the needs will go beyond immediate relief, particularly for children, families who have lost livelihoods, and communities whose homes and local infrastructure have been affected".
Shyam says that "Once we have a clearer assessment of the needs and depending on how much funding we receive from supporters throughout the world an Umbrella led project could potentially focus on:
- support for particularly vulnerable children and families;
- educational materials and support for affected children;
- basic livelihood recovery for vulnerable families; and
- community-level recovery activities potentially temporary shelter construction.

We know Aotearoa is a long way from Nepal and the last few years here have been challenging for many so we are very, very humbled and grateful for all the support you have shown us to date.
