Support our Senior Development Netball Team to make it to Australia in July 2015 for an overseas competition!

Wellington

St Matthew's recognises the impact that sport has within the community and believes that fostering this love of sport within our girls is important for students beyond their schooling years.

In recognition of their service to netball, a team of 11 St Matthew's year 12 and 13 girls, have been selected for the 2015 Senior Development Netball Team, to play in the Gold Coast Netball Carnival, July 2015.

The trip will be a week long Netball Carnival focused on spirit, sportsmanship, and no doubt some tough competition from around the world.

The team spirit is already high, with various fundraising efforts taking place and planned for the coming months.

We would love it if you could be a part of our trip, help foster the love for sport within our girls, and help get our team to the Gold Coast in July!

If you are reading this, it means you have taken the first step, the next one is to donate!

Thank you for supporting our girls - “ad astra per aspera” – to reach for the stars.

A few words from the girls...  10 March 2015

Camryn Williams : Year 13, Head of Netball 2015

The sun in July is tempting, but the opportunity to play netball with 10 other senior pupils, most in our final year at St Matthew’s is the icing on the cake! It has been a great feeling working together as a team, as well as with our families on our fundraising ventures so far. We are fortunate to have a very supportive staff and school community who are prepared to support us as we are putting in the hard yards too both fundraising and training get fit for the upcoming netball season and our trip. I am looking forward to making memories for life with my friends, playing the game I love as well as establishing friendships with other netball players across the Tasman.

Makaylah Julian : Year 13, Prefect

I am looking forward to challenging myself by playing teams from different countries, who have a very different playing style. This should develop our netball skills for the better. It will be great to meet new people and having a successful week as players and as a team. The team culture is positive, and travelling to the Gold Coast will be a highlight for the year.
