Lets make a safe place for families that need one.
Bay of Plenty
The ex Rena lifeboat is up for sale from the Pap Tav
If this Give a little can reach enough to buy and fit out the boat, we would like to fit it out for a family of 6 for emergency accommodation. We would also like to build a trailer capable of use on dry land, as well as an emergency function of being buoyant and docked. This will be a cost effective and safe way to keep families safe through rough transitions, Disaster relief, and families with children experiencing homelessness. our goal would be to make the space as safe and also fun for families that desperately need shelter and a warm place to sleep. it will be painted to reflect hope, and safety. and will be not run for any kind of profit. We are looking to partner with tradespeople and businesses that reflect the same goals.
If this Reaches its goal and we are able to buy and move the craft, (Sam Dowdall) Will publish all expenditures publicly. from there we will build the trailer and start construction near the CBD. The vessel will be viewable and accessible for the public to interact with.
I have put 6k up, I have no idea what the bidding will go for this Sunday but im hoping it would be within that and transport should not be too difficult, with a truck with a Hi-ab or something. If we go over 6k the money will be used in the fit and trailer building the beds and buying bedding etc.
The boat itself being brought and the moving of it to a location to be worked on. Any extra or above 6k will be used on fitout. if we are not able to purchase the boat the money will be split equally between Street kai and The peoples Project
