Project Wildman - Breaking the man code to get guys talking.

Nationwide

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Us men have many great strengths and abilities, these allow us in times of war to push it all down and just do what needs to be done, these same strength’s however in the modern world where most of us in the west have never seen war is a massive hindrance.

Pushing it all down and not talking or processing life’s ups and downs leads many of us to depression, anxiety, anger and so on… add to that, in NZ we have an unspoken man-code that says “men don’t talk about that stuff” and so we don’t.

It’s time to see this unspoken man-code for what it really is, because the truth is, that It’s not until we start talking about what’s going on that we can start to understand it and only then begin to change it.

Over recent years men have started to break the man-code, they’re dropping the tough guy masks and talking. John Kirwin, Mike King and others have led the way, now it’s time for us everyday blokes to do the same.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Rob. A builder, father of three gorgeous but spirited children and founder of Project Wildman.

Last year I wrote a book “Men Wanted for Hazardous Journey” a look at our man culture and some of the unspoken rules we live by and where these rules and beliefs have led many of us. Then later last year my marriage of nearly 20 years ended and I found myself hitchhiking around the country with a fridge trying in my own way to deal with such a huge loss.

Watch my TEDx Wanaka talk here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmRDL0iUZ20&list=UUsT0YIqwnpJCM-mx7-gSA4Q

I started Project Wildman in Wellington three years ago as a way to get us guys talking and now we have spread to Auckland and Christchurch.

I get emails from guys all the time asking when’s Wildman going to be set up in their area, Hamilton, Whangarei, New Plymouth, Invercargill … everywhere. The need is great, the demand is great and now it’s time with your help to meet the demand and get guys meeting and talking all over the country.

MY BIG DREAM IS THIS

When us as men start really dealing with our stuff rather than trying to ignore and escape it or blame others for it, when we start talking about and taking ownership of our lives, then we have a great gift to pass onto our children, so that our sons don’t have to grow up with the same broken beliefs about manhood that we have

THE COST OF MY DREAM

$6,000 per city: With $24,000 we can get Wildman up and running in 4 new cities in 2015.

Our set up costs are to find, train and support facilitators - then once we are up and running it is self-funded by local members, so it keeps going.

A $20 pledge may seem small to you but not to us that $20 - $50 - $100 will be a founding part of something that lasts for years.

JOIN THE FRIDGE TOUR PART 2

As of Nov 4th - I’ll be hitting the road once more with my fridge, hitchhiking more than 4500km!

Another awesome adventure but this time to speak at different venues around the country, with the goal of creating the funds needed to get Wildman moving throughout NZ.

Together we can continue to change the face of manhood.

So… Pledge your donation and get us set up in your area.

For every $10 that you pledge you get 1 vote as to where we set up next, $50 = 5 votes etc – so rally your friends, spread the word and get your area to pledge $6000 and next year Project Wildman will be running in your backyard.

At the end of the fundraising tour I’m releasing a “special edition supporters of Wildman” print of my book to give as gifts to those who have donated $50 or more to helping us reach nationwide.

Pledge $50 we’ll put your name on the supporters page of this special edition book

Pledge a $100 and we’ll put in your photo or company logo and name

Pledge $500 and we’ll give you a whole page!

And a pledge of $1000 or more and you’ll not only get the full page but I’ll come and speak at your next community or corporate function (when I'm next in your area).

I leave it in your hands. See ya on the road.

My Tour finishes on Friday and I’ve had an epic adventure!

However I am so far off my target of $24,000 that when the fundraising closes on Friday I will have 0 – this is because it’s an all or nothing fundraiser.

The good news however is that all donations once we hit a certain point double as Spark are matching dollar for dollar! But only before Friday…

Please pledge a donation today and help me get Wildman up and running through the country!

Thank you so much!

Rob
