This is to help kate so she's not stressing about money and bills while she's in hospital trying to get better.
Whakatane, Bay Of Plenty
As most know, Kate has dealt with kidney stones since the age of 15, being in and out of hospital 1 - 2 times a year since then with issues.
She was finally diagnosed a few years ago with Medullary Sponge Kidney Disease, which is a birth defect that was unfortunately never picked up.
They found a large stone lodged high up in her ureta causing blockages and couldn't move due to previous history of stones and intense scar tissue.
She had surgery late on Friday 12th to blast the stone and have a 30cm JJ stent inserted from her kidney to her bladder.
Unfortunately, she picked up a massive infection after being home for 2 days and was rushed back into hospital.
The stent was removed last Friday, and her blood work is still skyrocketing.
She is to remain in hospital (under both WHK and TGA care) until the infection is controlled and blood work is back within normal range.
At this stage, 3 monthly monitoring is required due to the fact her kidney could potentially be dead within a year.
Doctors have said atleast a minimum of a further two weeks off work is required.
Unfortunately, she has used all her sick leave and accrued annual for the previous two weeks.
Kate is one of my best friends and as she lives in another town it's hard to go see her or help out so next best thing is this 😊
If anyone is able to donate anything, to help cover her wages for atleast two weeks/petrol to get to TGA, would be very much appreciated
Bad day 26 April 2024
Kate had a CT this morning, the hole is still there, surgeons are in surgery at the moment so they will come up when they're finished and discuss what will happen next.
They said the stent should have fixed it but hasn't.
Wow amazing thanks so much kate really appreciates it
