With the recent release of The Dark Horse The Eastern Knights Chess Club would love to get our kids on the road to tournaments again!
Nationwide
This page has been set up due to the overwhelming response of people nationally wanting to donate to the Eastern Knights Chess Club.
The acclaimed Dark Horse movie is based on the Eastern Knights Chess Club and one of the founding members, Genesis Potini. Gen Da Man is the inspiration for the lead character in the Dark Horse movie played by Cliff Curtis.
Sadly Gen passed away in 2011 so he never got to see the movie to completion, however his legacy lives on through the Eastern Knights Chess Club and now The Dark Horse movie.
Genesis Potini always said he never wanted to attract the well off, well behaved children to chess. He always wanted to engage the misfits and those from families in need.
This is something that the Eastern Knights has continued as part of it's core ethos, Chess anywhere, for anyone.
The Club would like to do the following with and for those misfits:
* take our kids to at least two tournaments
* purchase more clocks
* purchase more chess sets
We are running bbqs, fundraising etc but some people have expressed wanting to donate to the club so we have set up this avenue too.
Bravery is Contagious.
Long Live the Eastern Knights.
