Hazel Ouwehand to Represent NZ at World Short Course Championships 2024

I (Hazel) will be competing at the 17th World Aquatics World Short Course Swimming Championships to be held in Budapest (Hungary).

The competition is taking place from 10-15 December inside the Duna Arena in Budapest. Prior to travelling to Budapest we (the New Zealand swimming team) will be attending a staging camp at the X-Bionic Sphere in Slovakia. This is essential to help us recover from the long haul travel and any associated jet lag, to recover and then prepare our bodies to be in the best possible position to race FAST in Budapest!

This is the first major competition that marks the beginning of my 4 year campaign to the LA 2028 Olympics. International racing is essential to grow, learn and improve as a competitive swimmer.

The entirety of the campaign from departure for Slovakia to arrival back in New Zealand will be 17 days. As this is a user pays events, we, the swimmers, bear any and all costs associated with this campaign.
