Oscar was rescued in May and needs expensive specialist surgery to treat entropian, a painful eye condition. Please help this sweet boy.
Otago
Oscar was rescued by Dog Rescue Dunedin at the beginning of May this year. When Oscar came to us he had a chronic case of sarcoptic mange, a nasty yeast infection and secondary bacterial infection in both ears and he was underweight. Oscar required many trips to the vet and his dedicated fosterer administered eye, ear and skin medications as well as lots of love.
After a few days in our care, we noticed that Oscar couldn't open his eyes very wide. After a further trip to the vet, Oscar was diagnosed with Entropian. This is a medical condition in which the eyelid folds inward. It is very uncomfortable, as the eyelashes constantly rub against the cornea and irritate it. Oscar has this condition in both eyes.
Oscar requires surgery to treat both of his eyes. This is specialised surgery and will be carried out by a specialist vet during his next trip to Dunedin in September. We have been advised the surgery will cost around $1,500. Dog Rescue Dunedin would be grateful for any donations to help cover the costs of Oscar's surgery.
Oscar has now been adopted into a loving family and DRD has committed to covering the cost of his surgery - please help us in any amount, small or large, to pay for this much-needed surgery.
